THE DROP FESTIVAL '19

After last year’s amazing debut, The Drop Festival immediately became one of the best nationwide festivals in Australia. The festival is taking place alongside the Australian leg of the World Surf League tour. The events at Snapper Rocks on the Gold Coast, Bells Beach in Torquay and Margaret River in Western Australia, as well as Surfest Newcastle and the Vissla Sydney Surf Pro in Manly.

We attended the event in Coolangatta following the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast. The event was headlined by the hard-working brother-sister duo of Angus & Julia Stone and opened with Client Liaison, Hockey Dad, The Jungle Giants and Alex The Astronaut.

This year the venue changed and was held right along side the sand in Coolangatta with Kirra point being the backdrop. Pretty phenomenal following the waves offered up at Kirra the week before.

To our surprise, the Prince inspired band Client Liaison stole the show. With their funky outfits and groovy dance moves, they were impossible not to love. They put on one hell of a show.

The Jungle Giants rocked and it was hard to not sing along. They had the crowd jumping and seemed to keep everyone on their feet and screaming at the top of their lungs.

Brother and sister duo Angus and Julia Stone were an interesting closer. They brought their mellow good vibes to everyone but could have brought a little more excitement.  As they played their most popular song Big Jet Plane the crowd grooved and swayed closing an epic night.

We can not wait for next year! Even if The Drop Festival puts on half the show next year it will be a bummer to anyone who misses out. Make sure to get your tickets early because it will surely sell out again.
